Gymno |
From the Greek word "Gymnos" meaning "naked". Used to form other words. |
Gymnosophist |
Naked philosopher in ancient India, of a religion closely related to the Jains. Also a rare term for naturist. |
INF |
The International Federation of Naturists - International naturist organization which brings together over 30 member countries' national organizations. Based in Belgium. |
Going Natural |
Publication of the FCN. |
Modesty |
Freedom from vanity or excessive pride. It has also come to mean hiding parts of your body. While some people dress to show off their bodies, naturists just like to BE nude. They are not nude in order to show off their bodies. |

A type of club/group which does not have facilities of its own. Instead, members either travel to existing naturist clubs/resort or rent facilities for naturist activities. |

The modifier used by naturists when referring to non-naturist things. (e.g. textile beach. Also, "They are textiles"-"They are non-naturists") |

The Naturist Society one of the two major American naturist associations (see also AANR). |
Top-free |
The preferred term for what is commonly referred to as topless. Created as a result of the undesirable association between toplessness and strip bars. |
WCANR |
Western Canadian Association for Nude Recreation - a regional division of the AANR. |
