I started my social naturist life 14 years ago with my spouse, Rainy. We had both been in previous marriages and had discussed with our former partners our desire to practice naturism both at home and in social circles. Unfortunately, neither of them was interested in the movement, so nothing happened. After our previous marriages dissolved and Rainy and I met and then began to date, the subject came up one evening. We were both thrilled that we felt the same way about naturism. When we decided to check in to it further, I did quite a lot of research and found a few clubs in Ontario where naturism was practised. It happened to be February. Valentine's Day was fast approaching, so I made a few phone calls and found New Forest was having a Valentine's Day Dance. They had a room to rent for the night. Rainy and I were excited and headed to the resort that was just north of Newmarket (now known as Bare Oaks and owned by Stéphane Deschênes). We had a beautiful afternoon and evening, made many great friends, and joined as members the following morning. We were eager to let our families know. Although only one of our four children became a naturist in time, they all supported our decision.
I became involved with the FCN as a member and a board member in 2006-2008. In 2016, I was approached to help with the FCN website. I became a board member (again), and I am presently a Director at Large and President.
Both Rainy and I are incredibly happy that we could have our dreams come true in finding each other and our mutual love for naturism realized. We continue to enjoy our naturist lifestyle at Bare Oaks, where we spend most of the summer on our seasonal site. We spend winters at Natures Resort in Texas, where we escape the cold and snow.
Naturism is not for everyone, but for us, respect for ourselves, respect for others, respect for nature is how we choose to live and will always continue to do so.
